Aussie stocks climb higher at trade’s close
Australian stocks edged higher today following Friday’s close, as gains in the metals and mining and materials and resources sectors sent shares higher.
The S&P/ASX 200 experienced a 0.50% increase at the close in Sydney.
Among the session’s top performers on the S&P/ASX 200 is Nickel Mines Ltd, which climbed up 8.54% or 0.085 points to trade at 1.080 at the close. Meanwhile, Alumina Ltd made a 6.34% or 0.130-point gain to end at 2.180, and South32 Ltd jumped 5.88% or 0.190 points to 3,420 in the late trade.
The worst performers of the session include Polynovo Ltd, which shed 5.67% or 0.115 points to trade at 1.915 at the close. Omni Bridgeway Ltd also took a 5.28% or 0.21-point loss to end at 3.77, while Chorus Ltd fell 2.95% or 0.2o points to 6.59.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the S&P/ASX 200 options’ implied volatility, dropped 6.50% or 11.772.
In other news, the AUD/USD rose 0.35% to 0.7392, while AUD/JYP jumped 0.59% to 81.29.
