European stocks open lower ahead of ECB meeting
European stocks sold lower earlier on Thursday as concerns mounted over the pace of a global economic recovery ahead of latest meeting from the European Central Bank (ECB).
Germany’s DAX futures fell by 0.5% at 2:05 AM ET (0605 GMT), while FTSE futures in the UK dipped by 0.4%. In France, CAC futures sold 0.4% lower.
New COVID-19 cases continue to increase globally, with many expressing worries that the summer tourism season in Europe may generate pockets of high-risk gatherings.
Investors are currently looking to the latest ECB meeting, even as the central bank may be unlikely to pledge another stimulus package soon after its generous package rolled out in June.
